FUN FACT! Since 1996 the American Welding Society has designated the month of April as National Welding Month to bring awareness to the welding industry and its available career paths.  This week, we were proud to host 20 students in the Career Academy from Metro Community College. The students are high school juniors and seniors from across the metro area.  They toured our both of our plants in Carter Lake to learn about the exciting projects we work on and opportunities they could have with a career in welding. We love helping inspire young minds to explore a career in the welding industry, maybe even on our team!

The Pancake Man came to visit the PVS Carter Lake campus this week! Staff enjoyed pancakes and sausage for lunch! Always a great meal!

We recognized the following team members for Perfect Attendance in first quarter at the OSC Quarterly Meetings yesterday:

Great job!

PVS held their annual chili cookoff today! We had seven entries of amazing homemade chili! Our judges had a difficult decision to make, but they were able to pick a winner!

1st place – Mark B – Estimating

2nd place – Ron D  – Human Resources

3rd place – Stephen F – PVS Metals

Congratulations to our winners!

We were honored to host Congressman Bacon at the Omaha Steel facility Monday.  Travis and the team walked through the office and shop operations, followed by a great Q&A session where we learned about the debt ceiling, and balloons!  We ended by awarding the Congressman a Steel Husk plaque – brought back from the archives!  It was a great success!

Yesterday we were excited to hold our 1st quarterly divisional meeting at NPS Metals and NP Finishing in Fargo, ND.  Some of the team from corporate were able to make the trip, and we all enjoyed reconnecting with our friends at the Northern divisions.

The company wrapped up Quarterly meetings at PVS Structures and Omaha Steel earlier in January, and will be hosting same for PVS Metals and MVS Metals in February.  “Our new year’s resolution is to be better communicators, and we’re off to a good start,” said CEO Tyler Owen.

We can’t tell you all how much we appreciate the team’s efforts and are looking forward to the 2nd quarter meetings – there should be less snow in May up north!
